End of 2024 Summary.

This year even more action was winging, partly as winds a bit gustier and varied directions which winging makes the best of. Even windless days often had swells so wakeboarded less, heard due bigger temperature differences when waters mix. August was busiest month equalling last year’s 23 days, busiest December at 15 days, November was worst month at 7 days. 129 sessions averaged F5 and stronger, 195 F4 and stronger.

When I started winging the story was you only need 2 wings, 1 foil and 1 board. Looks like I’ll soon have 7 wings, 3 foils and 2 board. If buying fresh think I could enjoy 2 foils, 2 boards but still need 4 wings to go F3/F4 to F6/F7. In practice I used small (3m-4m), medium (5m), and large (6m-7m) wings about the same amounts. The good guys around 70kg do get by with a lot less. I find winging hard to progress, maybe too much ingrained windsurfing, but can gybe, ride up to head high ‘soft’ swells and a few footswaps. If I could tack and footswap consistently I’d be happy.

Days - 189 wind/kite/wing powered, plus 8 dinghy, a few less than last year.

Sessions (222) - Windsurfing (10), Kite surfing (8), Wing Boarding (192), Wakeboarding (4), dinghies (8), and a few SUPs and kayaks. A bit less than last year with poor winds end-October and November.

Windsurf sails - 3.7m (1), 4.2m (5), 4.7m (4), 5.3m (1), reflecting only windsurf now when windy/waves Rhosneigr and too windy to wing local. Boards - Tabou DaCurve Quad 86l (8), Goya Custom Pro Quad 94l (2). For second year didn’t windsurf 94l FSW Kode and 6m at all.

Kites - 9m (3), 12m (5). Boards - Goodboards Crossbay 137x41.4cm (8). Sold larger board as didn’t use.

Wings– 3m (4), 3.5m (10), 4m (57), 5m (79), 6m (67), 7m (8). I sold the 3m as too small to pump and 3.5m pumps and covers almost same wind. Boards: Custom repair 87l (28) given away, Armstrong 90l (112), Fanatic 75l (46).

Foils –Duotone 905 (61) sold, Fanatic 1085 (86), Duotone 750 (16), Duotone 900 (6), Duotone 1305 (38) sold.

Locations: Colwyn Bay (12), Dinas Dinlle (3), Llanfairfechan (167), Lligwy (3), Penmaenmawr (4), Rhosneigr (25), West Shore Llandudno (8).
